What is Dolby Atmos?

What is Dolby Atmos?

Dolby Atmos is an innovative audio technology designed to enhance the experience of sound in entertainment. It extends beyond traditional surround sound formats by adding height channels, allowing sounds to be interpreted as three-dimensional objects.

Audio can be placed and moved in a three-dimensional space, including overhead, creating a more immersive and realistic sound environment.

  • Immersive 3D sound for full spatial impact
  • Cinema-grade clarity with pinpoint precision
  • Future-proofed for Apple Music and streaming platforms
  • Adds depth, emotion, and movement to your mix
  • Industry-trusted format used by top engineers and studios

What's special about Dolby Atmos mixes?

What's special about Dolby Atmos mixes?

A Dolby Atmos mix differs from a standard stereo mix by adding a vertical dimension to the traditionally horizontal surround sound. Allowing you to place sound anywhere in a three-dimensional space (not just around you but also above) creates an immersive sonic environment.

By using an object-based approach, mixing Dolby Atmos music provides an unrivalled listening experience.

Breaking down our Dolby Atmos Mixing system

Breaking down our Dolby Atmos Mixing system

Let’s break down the many components that go into our Dolby Atmos studio. It’s equipped with the latest Dolby Atmos Production Suite and Dolby Atmos Mastering Suite. The Dolby Atmos Renderer lets you precisely place and move sounds around and above the listener, making the audio experience incredibly vivid and dynamic.

The Dolby Atmos Music Panner provides the precision needed to shape the auditory space with exceptional detail.

Finally, the Dolby audio bridge acts as a conduit between traditional stereo mixes and the Dolby Atmos system, ensuring that projects initially mixed in stereo can be adapted to and experienced in the immersive Dolby Atmos environment.

The Red Studio is my favourite room to work in London right now, its where most the magic has happened for me and is just a great sounding room where all my clients leave feeling happy.

The Atmos studio at TYX has been a great find for me, its such an awesome place to be, the room sounds amazing, its super easy!

The central location, nestled within the Creative community at the Tileyard complex sets TYX apart from any other space we have worked at. In addition the vast facilities, choice of space and service is second to none, the feedback we receive from our clients is always incredibly positive too!

I wish we had more studios like TYX in the United States. Frankly, it’s one of the best if not THE best studio that I’ve ever worked with and I wish there was one near me.

TYX are (genuinely) the best podcast & studio setup I've used in London (and beyond). End to end it's slick, easy to engage with, and the best kit you could want. I sing its praises everywhere and couldn't recommend it enough!

Brilliant studios and lovely people. Always extremely accommodating and flexible. Amazing setup!

TYX Studios is an incredibly professional studio, with very helpful and knowledgable staff. We love coming here, it's one of the best studios in London.

It's a joy to work with the stellar team at TYX Studios in their first class facilities. Incredibly welcoming, always positive with a can-do attitude, they go above and beyond time and time again to enable us to create our best work.

We recently worked with the team over at TYX Studios on our latest commercial ad and photography shoot for an upcoming podcast on BBC Sounds. Everyone at the studio was fantastic to work with, so accommodating, supportive and an absolute pleasure.  One of the smoothest shoots I have ever produced and all thanks to Jack and the team at TYX.
