If you're recording interviews or panel discussions, it's essential to position the microphones in such a way that each speaker’s voice is captured clearly and without any distortion. Placing the microphones at a suitable distance, usually around 6-12 inches from the speaker’s mouth, helps in capturing their voice accurately.
For solo podcast episodes or narratives, we recommended positioning the microphone slightly closer (around 4-8 inches) to emphasise the clarity and intimate feel of the speaker’s voice. Additionally, using a microphone stand or boom arm can provide stability and flexibility in adjusting the microphone’s height and angle, ensuring optimal sound pickup.

Yes, like most podcast recording studios, we allow you to bring your own equipment if you prefer. However, it is important to inform the studio in advance about the specific equipment you plan to bring to ensure compatibility with our setup and to avoid any technical issues during recording.
We are open 24/7 to members, 9am-9pm for non members. If you need to book irregular hours please contact us directly by phone or through our web form.
You will only be allowed into the room for the duration of time you have booked, so please allow for any set up and break down you may have.
Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours before the scheduled booking time. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the booking will incur a fee equal to 50% of the total booking cost. No-shows or cancellations made within 24 hours will be charged the full booking amount.
Standard Membership - £100 + VAT per month. Access all our studios 24/7 with 20% off every booking. Pay monthly at £100 + VAT, or annually at £1,000 + VAT.
Co-working Desk - £300 + VAT per month. Your own dedicated workspace in our creative community. Pay monthly at £300 + VAT, or annually at £2,500 + VAT.
Credit Packs - Members can purchase studio credit packs starting from £1,000 with an additional 10% discount (only available with Standard membership).

Yes, you’re welcome to bring your own SD card or portable drive when you record at TYX. Our team will help set it up with our podcast recording equipment, so you can take your audio and video files home immediately after your session.
